For many years I've worked with Island Pacific, now SVI Solutions, out of
Irvine, CA. They seem well suited to a variety of types of retail
businesses, small and large.

JDA was always considered to be a competitor, but I've never really seen
their systems. The last time I checked out the JDA website I saw that they
were into a lot of open systems stuff. I don't know whether they've ported
their code or they've been buying out other products. At least one of their
non-iSeries modules is a product they purchased and absorbed.

As a retail person who has worked with Island Pacific I find that most often
I'm comparing notes with JDA people. I've known folks to say very good and
very bad things about SVI and JDA.

To my knowledge neither provides POS solutions, but each provides flexible
integration with a number of POS solutions through their Sales Audit
modules. I could be wrong...

Subject: Retail software

Does anyone out there know of a good iSeries based software package that
will perform point of sale, merchandise replenishment, inventory control,
and distribution functions for a retailer?

It would have to support at least seventy locations and preferably cost
under a million dollars.

Thanks in advance.
