  Without comparing the technical merits of each product, there are a 
couple things to note:

1)  VARPG does not have runtime licensing fees.  I think that ASNA does.
2)  VARPG has IBM's full support, so the latest compiler features put into 
an OS/400 release will be there a lot sooner.
