Avi, I am seeing sites with failed Windows 2000 server installations.
Active Directory is just not performing the way the salesman said it would.
All of these "youngsters that know Windows inside and out" are finding they
know just enough to cause real problems and then they have no one to turn
to for reliable information.

One product differentiator that I am beginning to see is the division of
knowledge to run the system. In the AS/400 world a person can have a full
career and be an expert on some part of the system, whether it is
operations, security, communications or whatever. However in Windows World
you need to be a Renaissance Man just to survive, and then 3 years later
you get to do it all over again. On top of all that you get to spend a
significant portion of your budget time on crisis control, whether it is
the newest Virus or the Boss' report that can't be read by the entire team
until matching software is installed on the team's machines.

I think that we miss the point ...
In the past, NT4 was much cheaper then the AS/400, BUT today it does not
matter any more ...
Who is going to put his Internet application or B2B or B2C or on an AS/400
...
I saw what it took to tinker with websphere and hardly any one knew how to
go about it while every youngster knows Microsoft in and out ...
Think about it ...
