Yes, the WRKRDBDIRE does some nice things. However calling a stored procedure on a remote system, and expecting a result set, will fail. For example the following works (I am leaving out the /EXEC SQL stuff): CONNECT TO :rmtsys UPDATE filename SET fielda = :vara where keyfield=:keyvalue CONNECT TO LOCAL But trying to call a stored procedure which returns it values via the following fails: * input parameters - Used in place of *ENTRY PLIST D BOM220FILE PI D UsrLib 10A D Parent 15A D KFaci 2A ------------ 48 data records excluded -------- C/EXEC SQL C+ SET RESULT SETS ARRAY :Parm1 FOR :Row1 ROWS C/END-EXEC Rob Berendt ================== Remember the Cole! ray@esprinkle.cc Sent by: To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> owner-midrange-l@mi cc: drange.com Subject: RE: AS400....is it really an "Open" system?? 04/10/01 09:33 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L Thanks Christopher !!! It looks like I have some digging to do to figure out how to use this. Actually you can access data from any SQL server with the as400. WRKRDBDIRE is the command to configure remote data bases for you to access via SQL or DRDA. Christopher K. I have a question that maybe someone on the list can answer. Several years ago a major effort was made to make the AS400 more open. Other platforms could access our data....etc. And this was achieved for all intents and purposes. But nothing has been done to allow us to access data from another systems database....such as SQLServer. Perhaps I'm wrong or not informed. Is there a way to access data from another system via RPG in a realtime fashion? And if we can't why isn't there any grumbling about this? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
