Re: display screen in a program, but not used when program called frombatch

Condition the open of the display file with an indicator (from RPG), and
open itself as needed yourself.  This should work.  Don't screw up and open
it in batch, because this will; cause the job to fail.

Can you condition the display file with an external indicator?  Your CL
would turn on the indicator if the job is interactive, turn it off if the

I've written an RPGIV program that uses a display file to get information
if the information is missing from a record.

In one circumstance I wish to schedule the job to run in batch at night. I
have already ensured the information is not missing, so the display file
will not be needed.   However the batch job fails anyway.

Is that what is supposed to happen, or is there another error I am not
finding?

Is there a way to resolve this issue without writing a second identical
program sans display?
