SMPOxxx are SLIC page-out tasks.
They write changed pages to disk.
They are supposed to do a lot of disk I/O - in fact this is their job

Subject: LIC Function

Greetings all,

I am chasing a performance issue on a Model 720 2-Way running V4R4. We are
I/O bound and trying to understand why. In running the performance tools,
I
see a LIC function SMPOL001 accounting for almost 15 percent of the disk
i/o
in the hour I ran the monitor...........

Does anyone have any idea what SMPOL001 is? Have searched the AS/400 site,
including the APAR and PTF databases with no results........

Regards,
