What i do find irritating though is that the AS/400 does not let us check 
the time with a normal time service like the US Naval Observatory.  There 
is no longer any excuse for this tiny task to be unavailable.  The idea of 
every PC and the AS/400 in every shop I've ever been in having slightly 
different times all of the time is more disconcerting than twice-a-year 
time changes.

if i had to choose between the two - a machine you have to reset twice a
year vs a machine you have to reboot twice a day, i'd say the as/400
wins hands down. 

i don't find the time change such a big deal.  it takes all of 30
seconds to handle it.
