Doesn't IBM deserve an apology? Send in the response card at the back of
your favourite TCP/IP manual and suggest that the documentation people add
some text pointing to intervening network elements causing this particular
problem. They do listen! Create a FAQ for your company that will help the
next person. (I'm trying to maintain a positive outlook these days!)

I think I've learnt several things from the various TCP/IP threads:
1) What I know about twinax is virtually meaningless in the TCP/IP world
2) Despite 22+ years as a midranger, I am a TCP/IP novice
3) As a novice, I need coursework and practical experience
4) IBM, WinRoute, Sysco, etc. manuals are not a substitute for experience
5) If Reading the Manual isn't good enough, I'm about to get some experience
6) Experience really is a Good Thing no matter how frustrating it seems at
the moment...
