I used to work for a consulting firm many years ago that paid a bonus to programmers based on the number of hours that came in under budget on projects. Needless to say, the programmers that made the most bonus money were the ones doing the most free (free as in, the company lost billable hours) warrantee work, and the programmers that made little to no bonus money rarely ever had to do warrantee work. Oh, another interesting tidbit...
