I've used the program from the Redbook 'Cool Title about the 400 and the
Internet', with some modifications and am quite pleased with that. I wish
I could point you to a list of exactly what 421 means and that, but alas,
time calls.

May I suggest that you run the program in debug? It can be done with a
combination of
WRKACTJOB to find the ftp jobs
STRSRVJOB to debug the non 5250 jobs
STRDBG to actually do the debug.

Peace,

Rob Berendt

Has anyone had success implementing the FTP exit program example found
in Chapter 5 of the Redbook, Who Knew You Could Do That with RPGIV?

After creating the program, FTPRQSEXIT, and registering it against exit
point QIBM_QTMF_SERVER_REQ, I get an error '421 Connection refused'
whenever I attempt to connect to the server using an FTP client. It
never gets as far as the user login.

Any suggestions?
