 Check out gethostbyaddr().  It's documented in SC41-5875-03 "System API
Reference OS/400 UNIX-type API's". CD book file name QB3AM403 in the
"Systems Programming Support" CD Bookshelf.  Don't recall if C/400 is
required to use this or not. (I've used it, but I was writing in "C/400" at
the time.)
