You have to live with the format as defined in the DSPOBJD.

what u can do however is if u are creating a query (not just
doing a dynamic query with no actual query definition) is to
map the date around using SUBSTR operator in 'Define Result Fields'.

e.g.

Field       Expression                         Column Heading
CRTDD       SUBSTR(ODCDAT,3,2)
CRTMM       SUBSTR(ODCDAT,1,2)
CRTYY       SUBSTR(ODCDAT,5,2)
CRTDATE     ODCCEN || CRTYY || CRTMM || CRTDD


Then sort by CRTDATE (includes century bit)
