How does that software work that goes out and gets 
your favorite web sites every morning?  I know Notes 
has something built in that will do this kind of stuff, 
under R5 anyways.  Would some implementation of this work?

Could you set up an FTP job to go out and try every 5 mins or something?
Why can't you allow pings from just each other?  I assume they're both
behind the same firewall (maybe they're not).  How about trying to establish
a DDM connection?
