There is no difference between a row and a record.

Perhaps your question was '... does it lock by Set or records?'  A set is a
group of rows.  For example:
UPDATE myfile
        SET FIELDA='TX'
        WHERE FIELDA='MN'
A set would be all rows where FIELDA='MN'

Sorry to be a pain, but I SUSPECT it locks by each individual row as it does
the update.

Subject:        SQL AS/400 Question

Does any know if when an SQL is being done in a program, does it lock by
Rows or Records.  I have a situation where a user is running a program on
Two workstations and they take forever.  What I think may be happening is
the row is locked until the 1st program finishes.

Any feedback will be appreciated
