and the 7855 is using rj45

I also remembered, are you using the telephone wire that came with the
modems or another ??? I seem to recall running into a similar problem
with a telephone wire that didn't have the correct number of wires. The
4wll usually requires RJ45 while pp dial uses RJ11 plugs... They are
different....
