Actually the Matrix line from APC will do several hours no sweat.  All of their
batteries are external and connect in a daisy chain.  WIth a 170 you'd only need
about two of the Larger batteries and the whole thing would be about the size of
the 170. (but out-weigh it by at least tripple)  The manual for that UPS gives
run-times for up to 9 batteries! (hundreds of minutes)  It states 'The number of
batteries connected to the unit is limited only by the desired recharge time.' 
There is only so much power available from a single outlet to charge 'em back up
after running 'em down!
