A client at my former employer used IBM's product - it was called RDARS if memory serves (if incorrect or if multiple re-named since then, perhaps someone could set me straight). It would convert the physical files to optical and archive them in a juke box for later retrieval. I can't remember if they also put spool files out on optical. There are also products available from 3rd parties, such as Magellan. I haven't seen them, except in demos. Look for ads at the web sites news400.com and midrangecomputing.com. Also, you could read the ads in their magazines. The amount of paper we went through as well as the users complaining about the amount of paper on their desks has us looking for different way to distribute and store these giant-size reports.
