If you have 5769ST1 (SQL) installed (or can afford to buy it), a solution would
be to convert your Query/400 stuff to Query Manager (using the RTVQMQRY and
CRTQMQRY commands).  In the generated SELECT, you can plug variables.  At
execution time, the STRQMQRY command lets you give the value(s) of the
variable(s) (simple CL program).
This method does'nt apply to queries on multiformat logical files, as it is not
supported by SQL (not relational, BTW).
