But you know as well as I that there are programmers that fight tooth and nail over a language (perl vs. python). Thats not what really irks me, what gets me is the fact that in one issue they are "oh RPG is the way and the light" [see April 1999 issue News 400 page 63], and the very next issue they flip flop to an article like the one we are talking about. I my experience it is never programmers who give up on a platform, or cause its death, it is marketing. Take CP/M, and Amiga for instance, by all two very dead OS's and yet you can still download compilers, games, web browsers, graphic utilities .... for these OS's. Take a look at what caused these systems to fall into disuse and you won't find that it is a lack of programming talent, or utilities.
