  • Subject: Brain-dead IBM 8238 Token Ring Hubs

Happy New Year to all...

As we were doing our Y2K PTF's, etc., we realized the microcode on our
IBM 8238 Hubs was in need of updating. So we asked each of our campuses
to get the current versions from IBM's web site, and go ahead and
download the updates to the hubs at their campus. In the process, we
now have three of our "base" 8238's which are essentially "brain dead".
The only LED that comes on is the "power" LED. All others are off. And
since these are base units, the attached expansion units are also out of
service.

Anybody have any experiences with this? Any solutions? Ideas?

TIA --- Ray
