No problem. :) Flaming is good for the soul.

In that case you are talking about a trojan. As I said and some of the link I
gave bear out, the things that make a virus a virus are replication and as Jim
said propogation. Without these two abilities you just have an evil program.
I feel the same as you about the threat to the 400, but what I am saying is that
any virus which will do a great amount of damage to the 400 must be written with
the 400 in mind. As to the resistance to defining a virus, how can you combat a
thing if you can't label it? LOL
For the most *NIX viruses are not cross platform, and neither are windows
viruses. I (still fearing the flamers) think that the same will be true of
viruses which attack the 400.
What we have been talking about so far are viruses which attack PC extensions
such as mapped network drives. If you look at some of the current viruses out
there you will find that they attack specific areas of the system they are
written for almost none of them just go willy nilly deleting all the files in
any
mapped network drive. That wouldn't be any fun for a virus writter, the life
span
of the virus would be too short.
In the case of some new viruses like W32/newapt.worm it appears the the only
reason they exist is to propogate.
