A sales pitch?  You bet!

Look at what happened:  Someone (Larryt222) posts for the first
time on this mailing list.  From the content, he obviously has
been lurking for a long time and has knowledge of prior
discussion on the subject.  And in fact, his style of prose is
very similar to the previous postings from someone representing
a DR company.

Add to this the fact that AOL accounts are very popular for
spammers.  Free-trial AOL accounts are easy to get and switch
when people start filtering that account.

Sorry, but this fits the profile of a spammer to a T.

Sure, maybe his advice is good.  But do we really know anything
about this "Larryt222"?  Is he really some average Joe in the
field or a salesman?

If he is indeed a salesman, then he is clearly misrepresenting
himself and his company.  Would you really trust doing business
with someone like that?  And isn't trust even more important in
the field of disaster recovery?

Well, I suppose it's up to the moderator of the mailing list
to decide if LarryT222@aol.com is a spammer or not.  But if
that userid is blocked, will we then see DR related posts from
WilliamJ456@aol.com?
