Rob,

 Try this.

 Assure that you have a current library (CHGCURLIB)
 FTP to your AS400 from your AS400 and log on. Enter each of the
following commands:
 QUOTE SITE NAMEFMT 1
 CD /
 CD directoryname     (repeat as needed to get to required directory)
 DIR (DISK
 QUIT

 There will now be a file in your current library named DIROUTPUT with
a memer DIROUTPUT.  The output from the DIR command will be there and
size is included. THe file is NOT externally described, but it is
fixed format.
