Well, this book says that DDM server code supports both DRDA and DDM
connections.
But for client DDM support you are limited to DRDA, which implies using
SQL, RDB directory etc.
Maybe in next release ?

I checked out this URL. The book you referenced is for V4R2M0. And, yes,
I was
under the V4R3 books. Generally this means it was not updated. In section
5.6 it
says
"That is, you cannot create a DDM file on AS/400 that uses TCP/IP. "

In section 3.1.3, it says
"| If you have an IP network, there are similar functions available for
some
| of the DDM-related things that are discussed in this section. For
example,
| you can use FTP and the Run Remote Command (RUNRMTCMD) command."
Well, we know that FTP and RUNRMTCMD and not the equalivelant of the record
access
in DDM.

I supposed that you could use the WRKRDBDIRE method. However would all of
your RPG
now have to use SQL to access the files? The reason I am asking is this:
To use
WRKRDBDIRE entries don't you have to code the following?:
C/EXEC SQL
C+ connect to remote400
C/END-EXEC

C/EXEC SQL
C+ Select .....
C/END-EXEC

How would traditional RPG access the WRKRDBDIRE entries? For DDM over APPC
there is
no coding change.

Sorry, you were asking for a weblink...
Use this URL
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/v4r3eng.htm
then click on Search or view all V4R3 books, in English , then page down
to
the book "OS/400 Distributed Database Programming"

Greetings:

I've done some research and believe that DDM over TCP/IP has been added to
V4R3... but can't find a document that explicitly states that.

Does anyone know of a web link that I could reference for that information?
Preferably an IBM document.

Thanks!

david
