I used to do it on regular basis. It contains all HIPERs since last CUM
package. And it's itself a CUM.
But I was still looking at new APARs just to know what's going on...

There are other useful package PTFs in this family (SF99xxx) - for
database-related PTFs, for DOMINO stuff, for Java ...
They are also CUMs and are also available on much more frequent basis than
real CUM packages.
They have additional benefit that one has all prereqs/coreqs in one place.

Best regards

Subject: PTF SF99092

Hello -

I have made it a practice to stay relatively current with PTF's on the
AS/400's I manage.

I subscribe to Alert/400 and usually apply the latest CUM tape within a
month of it's release.

I also apply all the relevant HIPER PTF's as they are released by
downloading them via ECS and loading them from save files.

I've recently come across a "CUM" PTF though that looks interesting. It is
referred to as SF99092...

SF99092 - Ordering this PTF number will result in the shipment
of a CD-ROM containing Hipers that are NOT included in
most current cumulative PTF package. SF99092 will be
refreshed on Tuesday of each week.

Does anyone regularly order and apply HIPER PTF's via SF99092?

Would this weekly CD replace the need for ordering HIPER PTF's via ECS?

Would it even replace the need for reviewing Alert/400's weekly FAX?

It looks like it might.... Any comments?

Kenneth
