Eric,

It would be nice if SQL were free, but you can utilize most of SQL's function 
without purchasing SQL.  Exceptions are embedded SQL, and running 
select statements.

     So, if SQL is the preferred method, then when is SQL/400 going to 
     become a "free" licensed program? It just doesn't make sense to me 
     that:
     1) If SQL is a fully supported feature of OS400 (already built in), 
     and
     2) IBM increases value of DB2 and SQL by optimizing and enhancing 
     its technology, then
     3) We who develop OS400 application can't use any of this unless we 
     shell out $$$ to access features built-in to OS400 (which we've 
     already paid for).
