Hello David,

Much as I dislike MS they do have quite a good manual about creating
documentation. It is called The
Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications and is published by
Microsoft Press. You can probably
order it through Amazon (order it via midrange.com and you'll probably get an
extra discount -- ha, ha).

Another thing, I have seen the various appends complaining about the softcopy
manuals. I don't really
understand the complaints. I use the softcopy CD all the time and while there
are occasions when I would
prefer a paper manual (API reference, etc) it works really well once you get
used to the grouping in the
bookshelves.

The only difficulty I can see with the softcopy CD is when you have to use the
Library Reader for Windows
which would have to be one of the all-time awful peices of software. The OS/2
version is so much easier to
use.

What is it people dislike about the softcopy?

I can't believe HTML is a better choice because it generally has poor
searching, poor indexing, poor table of
contents, and poor printing support -- all of it is pretty bad.

Why do people think HTML is better?

Regards,
Simon Coulter.
