One other solution you could consider is creating a data file on the AS/400 with the data you want on the PC. I've found that if you create the data file using a Program Described Output File then you can also use edit codes, including the leading minus sign and decimal points for numeric fields. The file can then be transferred a number of ways, but I prefer FTP personally. The technique is fairly low tech but it works and is easy to maintain.
