Rich,

Yes, WinAPPC does require the Netsoft router for autosync 
communications.  Synapse makes another product, Remote APPC, 
that allows the use of standard (cheap) async modems to 
connect to the AS/400.  However, Remote APPC is installed on 
a "server" PC (Win3.x or Win95) connected to the AS/400 that 
the client WinAPPC PCs dial into.  Not very cost effective 
if only one user will be dialing in but very reasonable for,
say, 3 or more users.  Fast, and VERY secure.  Info can be
