RE: LIND - "Line speed" vs. "Link speed" question

None of these parameters influences actual speed of connection.
Physical speed on AS/400 is always determined by a modem (modem
settings, handshaking with remote modem etc.)
"Line speed" in line description is used by performance statistics to
calculate line performance.
"Link speed" in controller description is used by APPN support to choose
a path for the session.
The could be many between two systems, and "link speed" is one of the
link attributes which are used to make a decision (you may have a look
at Class-Of-Service-Description - *COSD object).

In principle, you are expected to be honest when setting these
parameters, but you may change them at your own discretion, and system
will use whatever you specified.
