RE: Re: Data Queues

Erick

Remember, If you use Data Queues associated with an output queue(when
creating the outq designate a Data Queue) I believe an entry is placed
on the Data Queue ONLY when a spool entry is placed there in the RDY
status. If a spool file is placed on the outq in a HLD status, for
example, a data queue entry is never made, and in your app (I think)
you will never archive the spool file. Watch out for this and
other little nuances. I kept my old polling program that I wrote
because of this.

Hi Bob,

This is Erick from FORMation mg. I talked with you the other day on the
phone. I had found an archive article on data queues in NEWS/400 from
October 95 and will use this information as well as your information.

Although not a current hot project, I would like to use a data queue
associated with an outqueue to trigger a batch program (our FORMS
engine). Currently, our forms engine poles the out queue at a predefined
interval of ten seconds. I really would like to redesign this using data
queues for the sake of efficiency.

Good talking with you the other day.
