  • Subject: UPC Barcode using DDS keyword, BARCODE
  • From: Scott Johnson <sjohnson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I am using the BARCODE keyword in the DDS to print
an UPC barcode. The problem I am having is that the check
digit is not printing in the human readable part. When I
compare the printed barcode to the original barcode they
are the same. So the barcode itself is ok. It just looks
weird not having the check digit showing.

Here is my DDS:
      A L1ITMUPC 11S 0O 3BARCODE(UPCA 6 X'00')

According to the DDS manual, the X'00' is used to get the check digit.

Is the Check Digit not showing the norm? I am wondering if this is
printer dependant? Device type on writer is *IPDS. Printer is
an IBM 4234.
