Mark, there are probably a few ways to do this, but here's what I do. 
On the 170 CRTOUTQ OUTQ(prtxx) RMTSYS(the 320's name as defined in the DNS or 
host table) RMTPRTQ(Outq on 320) AUTOSTRWTR(1) CNNTYPE(*IP) DESTTYPE(*OS400)
TRNSFORM(*NO) SEPPAGE(*NO). If you ever have to manually start writer use
STRRMTWTR(prtxx).  I like to keep the outqs the same name on both systems.
