I am seeing a move towards "routerless clients" as it is now possible to
completely eliminate the router (NSrouter or IBM) and in its place go with
a direct attach solution.  As TCP/IP (no hands ma) gets more developed on
the AS400 and clients get more robust this method will take over from the
802.2 LLC solution.  If going the gateway direction with SNA Server you can
use the Synapse WinAPPC (www.synapse.com) and their SNA Server Option which
also eliminates the NS router.  It is not Version sensitive and so runs on
any release of OS/400 as well as the AS/36 if token ring attached.
