The point was that the talent shortage trancends platforms. Despite their "openness", HP and DEC shops are experiencing the same problems locating talented personnel as are the AS/400 folks. Fewer and fewer people are willing to take up the MicroSoft banner for slave wages and hours, just to have it on their resume. A rebellion is underway in this industry, and fewer people are willing to give up their weekends, holidays, and nights at home to line the pockets of the people on top. Forty hour weeks are an unrealistic expectation in the computer profession, as are having every holiday off. Comp time for these sacrifices is not, but management is still slow to accept this.
