Have you tried a TCP/IP connection and using FTP?  That's what we've used a few
times to shift code to PCs and even to send RPG IV code from an AS/400 to an
AIX box (don't ask!).  Seems to me that's the easy way.  Ialso don't understand
why they are making a big deal out of writing the source to tape - should be a
simple matter to write a quick-n-dirty to write all the source to a single file
on tape with some kind of inter-file marker, then read that tape on the 400
generating  the individual source files.  It's not difficult on most systems to
do something like this.
