Last weekend when our operators performed a normal IPL, there was a problem when it came back up. Somehow the system portion of the library list got changed. The entry for QUSRSYS got changed to QUSR0000. The startup CL, and a couple of others, had all sorts of errors since they couldn't start any printers, etc., and when anyone tried to sign on they could not access their message queues. When the operator called me at 5:00 AM, I was able to figure out the problem after about 30 minutes, and fixed it. I then re-ran the startup CL, and everything was OK. Monday morning, we checked with the people at our corporate to make sure that they had not screwed something up, and they said it was not them. We then called IBM software support, and as soon as the problem was described to them the support person said she knew what the problem was. There were two PTF's we needed to load and they would fix the problem. The PTF's are SF42454 and SF42455. We are on V3R2, and were currnet with all PTF's as far as we knew. I have not seen the cover letters for these PTF's, but the operations supervisor say they cover a lot of stuff. I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this problem, and also thought that everyone else still on V3R2 might want to check to see if they might need to install these two PTF's also. TTFN...
