Jon, I think a bytecode compiler would be very useful for those shops converting to Java and for those which are running web sites. I also think that if IBM were to create one it would also demonstrate quite a commitment to Java. Such a compiler would make turning existing applications into JavaBeans or methods in Java applications relatively easy.
