  • Subject: TCP/IP Printing

I have a request to combine the output of 2 printers on to one. The first
printer is a Printronix P9012 attached to AIX box. The other is a IBM 6252
twinax attached to one of our 400s. Now I have, rather easily, got the
AS/400 output to the P9012 via TCP/IP from the 400s. BUT! the 6252 is twice
as fast so they would prefer to print the AIX stuff on it. We are using
LPR/LPD and the data is getting to the printer but best I can tell it's in
ASCII and therefor garbage when printed.

1. Is there a way to convert the ASCII to EBCDIC on the 400 before it's
printed without affecting the whatever functionality the 6252 has for the
native 400 ouput?

2. Is there an AIX cmd/parm when using LPR to convert the data as it is sent
to the 400?

Thanks in advance
