Booth,

You need to compile RPG3 code with cvtopt(*datetime) in order to use date
fields at all. You will not be able to move UDATE to DATEL unless your date
format exactly matches that of DATEL. You can resort to a data structure or
use XLATE to get the job done, but RPG won't do it for you automatically
like it does with RPG4.
