Not the most efficient of resources, but small RPGLE programs with RETRN could 
hold
an RPGII/III shop for a while.

Wasn't there some discussion way back about the performance hit on math 
overflow?
Maybe by eliminating that, the cost of a CALL may not be so high after all.
