RE: Java applets

fixed

I remember hearing a rumor someplace that IBM is thinking
about changing VARPG so that it could generate JAVA code.
As far as I know this is just a rumor. But wouldn't it be great!!!
All you would need to know is RPG IV.

And as far as JAVA looking like C: I know C and RPG. I think
RPG is becoming more C like every release... mostly the
ILE stuff...

Also, there is VisualAge for Java. Which is more like VAC++,
than it is VARPG. I have not played with VAJava or VAC++,
but I hear it is easier the VB. I have played with VB and I
thought it was a nightmare. I will stick with VARPG for now...

Al, you just said that IBM will allow us to hook Java applets to RPG.
Who'll write the Java applets, and how? Java may be the answer for
others, but I looked at some Java code the other day and it is not
anything I will ever be able to learn. Maybe I can learn VaRPG, but java
looks to me like C code. There was nothing about it that looked inviting
to me. Is there something you know that would change my mind?
