Well, the thing is, using the SNDPTFORD does not force the modem to
autodial.  I've tested that theory by simply varying on the ESC line and
controller, which should cause the modem to dial, but it doesn't. 
Somehow, IBM gets that modem to dial though, and I think they use
QSYS/QSWDIAL to do it, because I've watched the program stack while
doing a SNDPTFORD.  Unfortunately, I can't find a way to call that
program with the proper parameters.
