I just came across another thing I would like to do, seems like it could be done, but I can not figure out how. I have a program that gathers just one piece of information originally: What to do during the next cycle. There can be a dozen or more different places that the operator will go next, depending upon who phones in next. When she makes her choice the program then knows where to go and everything works just fine. I'd like to add one piece to this rather straight forward solution though. There is five lines of prose connected to each one of the navigation choices that the operator should see. It doesn't make sense to me to modify every single program she might call and set it up to find these five lines and display them, nor does it make sense to put up a window before going to her next display screen, as it will just be blinked through. So, what I was thinking is this: Can a screen be delayed before being put up? Could I in fact invoke the next program, put up the correct screen, and then have a window pop up with the five lines of prose from the original program? I am pretty sure it can't be done, but then I've been wrong so often about what the AS/400 can do now I decided to ask. -- ----------------------------------------------------------- boothm@earth.goddard.edu ----------------------------------------------------------- * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the Midrange System Mailing List!
