My only point, apparently not made, is that Ldate isn't ready yet. We've all been tripped up before with un-ready technology. This is no time to rely on the Ldate field as the cornerstone to the largest programming problem we will ever face in our lifetime. Maybe the problems will be fixed in two years, maybe the performance will get better, maybe we all have some basic fallacies in our systems. In any event, Ldate isn't ready yet. It doesn't work the same way in DDS, in CL, and in RPG. As Al mentioned, not being allowed a zero or null field is certainly not a help either - blank dates are not a new concept. Who wants a screen full of 01/01/01 where there really should just be blank dates? Who wants the extra coding to make 01/01/0001 = *blanks?
