One exception that you might as well state right up front: birthdays will be shown on screen with 8 digits. Also any other date that can be previous to 1940 or after 2039. The screen really belches if you throw up a date of October 25th, 1936 as 10/25/36 and then read it back in as 10/25/36. You'll get either a new date of 20381025 or a date error saying you are outside of the range.
