re:  Scientist recognition.
Granted, your MTV person probably doesn't read anything about the Nobel 
prize winners unless George Clooney says that this person is politically 
correct and has won the Noble prize for peace.  But, on a good sign, on a 
morning radio show listing famous birthdays of the day (of living people) 
I heard physicist Steven Hawking mentioned right in there among various 
pop stars, etc.

I remember in college someone studying the authors of the textbook on 
Economics.  Said he wanted to be able to recognize them if he ever met 
them.  Perhaps if I had hung around more with people like that I'd have 
done better the first time in college.  Now, my Redbook "Who Knew You 
Could Do that With RPG?" has been signed by some of the authors.
