This happens because you are using a character set that mangles
the "|" character (vertical stroke). The following line:

CPYBLAP      LINE(LINE-NBR), <23|/*'/*'/*"/*"*/; PEND;;;>, " ";

should look like is does. Check that the "|" character is translated
correctly after transfer to the AS/400. There are a couple other such
instances. Check them all.
