I assume the question is, how can MI set null maps in database fields using
the QDB* APIs?

Here is how to do that.  In the UFCB byte at decimal offset 188 (i.e.
POS(189)), turn on bit 6 (i.e. X"02").   Then you can append a null map
after each record as you write them.  For example, for a 20-byte record
with 4 fields, fill the final 4 bytes in the 24-byte output buffer with
ones and zeroes.
