Hi Henrik:

We suffer from the same problem but we have a slightly larger window.

We have 5 product environments and 7 test environments.

Two things that we do to speed up the PTF apply process are:
1. We make sure that all triggers are ended as this delays the PTF apply process tremendously
2. I am assuming that you know that you can apply all PTFs in 1 pass provide they are not a
prerequisite to any of the PTFs you are trying to apply.

If you would like me to further explain my process email me at sshurge@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Question on PTF apply on systems with multiple environments sharing the same AMALIB

I would like to get in contact with installations having multiple XA environments sharing the same AMALIB, to discuss how they approach the Infor PTF apply situation.

Reason is that with the growing number of Infor PTF's coming out that needs to be applied in EVERY environment, we are having an issue being able to handle this within our allowed service windows.

We run a 24*7 installation, and has a service window of 12 hours in most months (not all, but almost every month) - and for example the Preq. PTF's we had to apply to go from PowerLink level 03.26.01 to 03.31.01 included 10 PTF's that needed to be applied permanent in every environment.

Each Permanent PTF apply takes about 5-10 minutes, and as this only can be done for one environment at a time - we are only able to apply about one PTF pr. hour - so most of our service window time is used to apply PTF's, leaving us no other time to do other needed system maintenance, or release new functionality.

Know that many of the PowerLink preq. PTF's are kind of "optional perquisites" - that's only needed in case you want to use the new Warehouse management integration or similar - but as they often includes already existing (and used) programs, for simplicity we have decided to apply them all, so we know we will be on latest level for these, don't need to investigate if it's a PTF that we actually need (or it's more of the "optional" kind) - and we don't have to go long time back and apply a bunch of PTF's in case we get a PTF we NEED to apply - and it has one of the "optional" PTF's as preq.
Yours sincerely / Med venlig hilsen
